According to the Clark County Coroner’s Office, the third victim in Wednesday’s shooting at UNLV has been identified as Naoko Takemaru, 69, an Associate Professor of Japanese Studies in the Department of World Languages and Cultures of the College of Liberal Arts.
According to UNLV’s faculty page, her office is located on the third floor of the Beam Hall at the Lee Business School, where the incident happened.

According to an official statement from Keith E. Whitfield, Ph.D., President of University of Nevada – Las Vegas, “We’ve now learned that two of the victims who passed away – Patricia Navarro-Velez and Cha Jan “Jerry” Chang – were members of our Lee Business School faculty. The third victim, also a UNLV faculty member, will be identified following notification of next of kin.”

Rosen Announces $3 Billion Federal Funding for High-Speed Rail in Las Vegas

U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV), chair of the Senate subcommittee overseeing tourism, announced that $3 billion in federal funding from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law will be used to begin construction of the Brightline West high-speed rail project in Las Vegas.
This 218-mile high-speed rail project will connect Las Vegas and Southern California through planned stations in Las Vegas and Rancho Cucamonga, with connectivity into Los Angeles County through Metrolink.
